For new CICs & start-ups

A free landing page, properly yours

If you are a registered CIC, registering one, or starting a new business, I will build you a simple one-page website free of charge. Minimal functionality, complete ownership, and nothing to pay to keep it running on today's free hosting tiers.

  • Free
  • One page, done well
  • You own everything
  • No ongoing costs today

Who qualifies

Registered CICs, people in the process of registering one, and genuinely new start-ups. If you are not sure you fit, send the brief anyway and say so - the worst case is an honest conversation.

What you get

One well-made landing page: who you are, what you do, how to reach you. No shop, no logins, no complexity - that is what keeps it free and keeps it yours.

What it costs to run

Nothing today. It sits on the free tiers of major hosting providers (currently Google's). Those tiers are theirs to change; if that ever happens, the small running cost is yours, and I will tell you before anything changes.

Whose it is

Yours, completely. The page, the content and the accounts are set up in your name and handed over documented. You can take it anywhere, any time.

The brief

Tell me what it should look and feel like

Fill in what you can and skip what you cannot. The logo and a rough sense of the feel are the most useful things; everything else I can work around.

1. About you

Have an account? Sign in and this form fills itself in.

Optional

A sentence or two in your own words.

2. How should it feel?

Pick any that fit, or add your own words.

How should the site feel?

Optional. e.g. 'like a friendly local charity, not a corporate'.

3. Colours

If you have brand colours, pick them here. If not, skip this - the logo and feel are enough.

Optional. e.g. 'forest green and cream, nothing neon'.

4. Websites you like

Any site whose style you admire, and what you like about it.

5. Your logo and any visuals

Logo, screenshots, designs, photos, brand guidelines. Images are resized in your browser before they are sent; small PDFs are fine too.

Logo

PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF.

6. Words and anything else

Optional. A headline, a strapline, opening hours, social links - whatever you have.

Optional.

Everything is processed in your browser before it is sent.

The plain terms

Asked and answered

What does 'minimal functionality' mean?

One page that says who you are, what you do and how to reach you, done properly. No online shop, no member logins, no booking engine. If you need those later, they can be added as paid work, or by anyone else - you own the site.

Is it really free to run?

Yes, today. It runs on the free tiers of major hosting providers, currently Google's. Those free tiers are theirs to change, not mine - if that ever happens, the running cost becomes yours, it is typically small, and I will always tell you before anything changes.

What happens after I send the brief?

I read it and reply by email, usually within a few days, to confirm your place and agree the details. Then I build the page, you review it, and it goes live with everything in your name.

If you outgrow it: when the page needs to take bookings, payments or logins, that is a new project. See what I build, or take it to anyone you like. It is yours.
